We Have the Solutions and It's Time to Git 'er Done

Our country is full of apparently stupid and ignorant people and it starts at the White House. This seems to repeat itself throughout history. Societies progress and then poison themselves as they first look to benefits of new ideas and then find out the unintended consequences. There are solutions but they require action that we are not used to doing. And when considering those actions entirely, they actually don't require any more effort than what we do now, in fact, it might even be easier. We just need to get off the endless treadmill we are on and reaccess our situations. Then encourage others to do the same.
The American education system has been nearly reduced to shambles in this country and it shows. People are more ignorant of their own peril, their own responsibilities and apparently just plain stupid. Have you seen the new reality show following Denise Richards around? If your a fan... you have to be an idiot. So, at least those people know.
One of the problems many of us have is flawed information and that includes those informing us. News reports are so skewed with inuendo and implied meaning that even reporting the supposed facts distorts the reality.
Consider this... gun ownership vs. those without guns. The people with guns can take care of themselves... they are rarely victims. However, those without guns can't defend themselves and so they are almost always victims. So when the news reports on victims, they are almost always talking about people who chose not to protect themselves. Should we be sorry for them or shame them? The politicians and media have chosen to portray them as helpless victims. We're supposed to have pity on those victim's that contributed to their own misfortune. And instead of teaching people to learn from what contributed to problem and to prepare themselves for that possibility. Our society's solution is to blame inanimate objects. Does that sound pathalogical?
Well it is.
That's not the end of our society's neurosis. We have many unexplainable reactions to the problems we face. But if you asked the average person why they respond in a particular fashion, they would tell you because..."because..." and then be perplexed for a second, possibly even angry, then continue on with their day. It's much easier to forget than to deal with something we don't know.
So can we leave our fate to a population largely comprised of such a group of people? Hell no!
I'm sure the elite feel the same... they look at those people as "Cannon Fodder", they could care less if there in Iraq for 100 years because they view them as monkeys or worse. Back in the days of the Black plague when people lived right next to their own sewage and didn't realize the harm, I'm sure the few knowledgable people hated them for their stupidity as well... and maybe they sent them to War because they felt sorry for them. It would be much more humane to have them die in battle then in their own waste.
Back to today... living in our own industrial waste, we have the solutions, we just don't have the will or determination or we don't think we do. We are quick to blame but very hard headed to point the finger at ourselves. We do have the ability to save ourselves and our fellow man but it's going to require some sacrifice on our part... and that's where you have to ask yourself is it worth it? Much like the movie "The matrix" once you've taken the red pill everything changes.
The task of greatness is thrust upon us and there is no real choice. We can cower from the truth or we can stand up and deal with the consequences. Give up on fear and become one of "the Brave" that has made up what has been good about our country for so long. I'm here to tell you being the hero is not as hard as you might think... it requires much of the same we're already required to do anyway. But this time you can feel proud of yourself for what you do. Something your ancestors can point out to their friends.
So here are the solutions to our problems. One, take charge of you life. Look at the consequences of you actions... If you work all the time and never have anytime for your loved ones... what are you working for? Be sure to learn something new everyday. Then take action.
For example, if you were to look into the effects of flouride. And you find out it's bad. Gather the loved ones and discuss the problem and devise a solution. Maybe it's as simple as finding toothpaste without flouride and buying a water filter for your drinking water... but you've done is shown you family how to identify a problem, develop a solution and take action to solve it. We need more people like that and it can't hurt. Now you've enpowered yourself and a few others. Now you need to schedule to spend some time each week discussing problems, determining solutions and taking action. Sometimes the problems aren't so easily solved but the real satisfaction comes in your doing something about it... your becoming a "reborn American".
Now for the political realm, we've gotten ourselves into a pretty ugly corner but once again there are numerous solutions. Some can be done tomorrow, some will take much longer but the bottomline is your going to feel better about yourself for confronting the problems than just sitting on the couch and vegging out on TV.
1. Educate yourself on the constitution and your responsibilities as a citizen. Be sure to committ as much of the constitution (at least know the bill of rights) and the Citizen's Rule Book). A member of a jury is a very powerful and necessary check on government and the laws they write.
2. Become part of the community. Get to know your neighbors and your local politicians and be sure to let them know how you feel and that your willing to work on solutions.
3. Be sure to get to know your local sheriff. And if you don't like him or her find someone running for the office you do and get them in office.
4. Get involved in a local business or political group. And participate.
5. Vote out all incumbants unless they have demonstrated a real desire to listen to people's problems.
6. Remember the we the people are the bosses.
