Group,
We need to get it in gear. As a member of the Pensacola Meetup I, like many, have relied on the few to carry this group...but it's time for each of us to make the small sacrifices necessary to push the movement to critical mass. And for me, I am number one, I pledge to be there! I am going to be the minuteman...ready to do what it takes!
The Ron Paul movement has made many strides online and with fundraising so far, I have no doubt there will be more victories ahead. But we need to convert this movement to 'boots on the ground' so to speak, by getting out and raising the ante once again. We need to play our part in the Revolution. The Pensacola Ron Paul Revolution!
To me, this is an opportunity that rarely comes along in a lifetime, perhaps even several lifetimes. A chance to be a part of something that could be put in the same realm as the Revolution itself or the greatest struggle of the 20th Century WW2, this is a chance to be a patriot and stand up for what is good in this country. So many things have already happen that are not what this country stands for...Attacking other nations without provocation, removing freedoms of speech and rights to a trial with the Patriot Act, supporting slavery and the erosion of our nations soviergnty with "free trade" deals that only serve the multi-national corporations. The fact is this government has become what our forefathers warned us against and this is our chance to make it right.
And if that was not enough I took note of something this morning while I was listening to RonPaul Radio. Something that as a Veteran really hit me hard. According to CBS News using records from 45 states (because the VA could not provide the information) was the fact that in 2005 alone over 6000 Veterans had committed suicide! An epidemic that our country has not even acknowleged. Only several days before I had come upon several articles, one that said over 1 in 4 of our soldiers returning from combat were discovered to have mental health issues, the other stating that 25% of the homeless in this country are Veterans. For me this is the final straw, for the young men and women who have defended this country to be left to their own means, to be left with no hope, or no where to turn is as bad as leaving them on the battlefield. This government that has spent hundreds billions of dollars to protect oil interests DOESN'T REPRESENT ME!!!
Please, I call on all of you to make the pledge to stand up for this country, the constitution, and what it is that we as a nation have represented to ourselves, our ancestores and the world! Let's meet this challenge so we can once again be proud to call ourselves Americans!
