Asking Questions Doesn't Make You Anti-American
Written by Jake
June 8, 2008

There is a real misconception that I’d like clear up. As I watch just about any program these days, I notice that those individuals that point any finger at the American government are instantly tagged as anti-American. Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly (just to name a few) would love to have you believe that if you raise any questions about the events of 9/11, the Iraq war, and even Katrina, then you must be against America and the troops. This is an overgeneralization to say the least and completely idiotic and untrue.

The fact is, the events that have taken place under George W. Bush’s administration have been some of the most tragic in American history. The Iraq war has been completely mis-managed. Hurricane Katrina was completely mis-managed. Even if there is no conspiracy, 9/11 was completely mis-managed. Having been a veteran of the military, I find it appalling and nearly impossible to believe that our readiness was so ineffective that day to have allowed such catastrophic events to take place. I’ll go ahead and leave that one there. In addition, our economy is doing terrible as we’re on the verge of nothing less than a depression and our unemployment rate is not looking good either. We hired this guy to manage our country and he’s done nothing but mis-manage.

I find it hard for these right wing propagandists to have the nerve to discredit those asking questions when Bush’s record is this bad. This is like an NFL football team losing every game every season for eight years and the media attacks the audience for demanding a new coach! We should all be asking questions. Some of the worst decisions of our time have been made under this administration and, yet, we sit idle. It appears to me that more and more people are at least getting pissed off, but that’s just not enough. We’ve got to do something about this.

These people are not representing what we want. As a collective population, statistics show that we are not happy with this administration and it’s not looking any better. Obama and McCain will not provide relief in any of these situations as far as I can tell. We are already in some rough times, but it’s only going to keep getting worse unless we start sending some courage to Washington and stop swallowing the tunnel vision perspective the corporate media dishes us.

Asking questions does not make you anti-American or anti-troop. I love America and I was a troop, but I have a million questions I’d love to ask. Unfortunately, I’m not a corporate crony that gets permission to put the heat on our government. We all feel how much pain this administration has caused us. Things are tight, and it probably has something to do with us spending $5,000 a second in a war that doesn’t even have an exit strategy. Stand up. Ask questions. Don’t let cowards like Sean Hannity or Bill O’Reilly stop you from taking your piece of America.
